Call it Windows 7 Microsoft's "Halo" effect.
Most PC manufacturers gained ground in the latest edition of a survey of customer satisfaction important because they like Windows 7 much more than his predecessor, the much criticized Vista.

"Computer manufacturers have to live with the vicissitudes of the software that Microsoft does," said David VanAmburg, managing director of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a study funded by the University of Michigan.
"But they are now benefiting from that customers are receiving the quality of the machine to be better, because the machines are easier to use," said VanAmburg, which accredits Windows 7 to increase the scores.

Windows 7, released last October to rave reviews by most analysts and technology experts, and has been a great success for Microsoft, which said it had sold 175 million licenses for the new operating system until late July.
The score of customer satisfaction of Dell rose two points to 77 from a total of 100, an increase of 3% over last year. Hewlett-Packard and Acer both posted gains of 4% and also frame scores of 77, as an "all other" catch-all category that includes systems sold by people from Asus, Sony and Toshiba.
"Almost all brands of PC was," said VanAmburg. "Compaq just did not move."
Although HP bought Compaq in 2002, kept the brand in some of their machines. ACSI, whose data on customer satisfaction PC goes back to 1995, continues to separate nameplate HP Compaq when the consumer consultations.
Dell's score was the highest for the Round Rock, Texas computer maker based in since 2006, while HP was better than ever.
"The overall effect of Windows 7 has been positive, as having the overall effect was negative in 2007," said VanAmburg.
In the last several ACSI annual surveys concluded that Vista - which quickly earned the reputation of being slow and buggy - had much to do with satisfaction scores fall. Dell's score of 78 in 2006, for example, fell by four points in 2007, when it debuted Vista. On the other hand, lower profits by "all others" in 2009 was due in part to strong sales of netbooks, which manufacturers have the larger, but best-loved Windows XP.
"But customer service has improved as a whole," VanAmburg said, noting that Windows 7 can not get full credit for the rising tide that floated all boats. "The support is getting better, manufacturers are making better, more reliable machines and are reacting more quickly to customer inquiries," he added, referring to the specific results of the study.
Another factor: The lower prices.
"The high rates of satisfaction in all areas may be due to the fact that [economic] have kept the price pressure on manufacturers," said VanAmburg. "They have to offer more attractive prices to attract and retain customers."
Still, as a category of computers was still behind other consumer goods, including durable goods like appliances and equipment of major consumer electronics competitors, according to ACSI. The average satisfaction rating was 78 team, compared with the apparatus of "82 and consumer electronics." 85 Other than that, VanAmburg suggested, was because we have a "much more practical in relationship with our computers, so wait. "You do not really interact with your refrigerator," he said. "Open the door, the light comes on. With our computers, no commitment beyond."

Apple remains the clear leader in customer satisfaction, a pride of position, rather he has held since 2004.
In the latest survey, Apple earned 86 of a total of 100, eight points above the average and nine points over his nearest competitor.
VanAmburg had an explanation for the increase in Apple's two points above last year's score as well. "It may reflect satisfaction with the IPAD," he said.

Apple iPad launched in April to rave reviews, and until recently had trouble meeting demand.
VanAmburg listed several other reasons for scoring the first of Apple, including customer service ranking and its chain of stores where customers can order so-called "geniuses" technical support questions.
"But some of Apple's dominance year after year reflects its unique ability to integrate their products and continue innovating," said VanAmburg, citing the IPAD as the latest example. "That's something that has created its high grade."

Technology News: iPhone 5 Concept (NOT REAL)
A tiny iPhone 5 love to go together with your Sunday morning coffee, somebody? In the event you answered yes… read on!
Idea designs & rumors are something that go hand-in-hand with upcoming generations of anticipated gadgetry…. when it comes to our beloved mobile devices. Case-in-point this morning, a new iPhone 5 design idea I stumbled across. Yes, it’s September 2010, & I’ve already spotted a next-gen idea.
Pictured above, this iPhone 5 design from the parents at HandyFlash gives us a glimpse (possibly) in to what the next generation of Cupertino’s iOS-powered device could look like. Note how thing they’ve made the darn thing. Reminds me of that elderly iPod Nano I have sitting on my table. Also, by the looks of things they’ve completed away with the outside ‘band’ visible on the 4th gen. No ‘antennagate‘ with the next generation according to the designer.
Of coursework, this is all fiction, so take this for what it’s worth… it’s something chilled to look at & think about. What do you think we’re going to see packed-in to the iPhone 5? Or is this… TOO SOON!?
